Love is in the air

Marc and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary on Valentine's Day. Many romantic couples attended our Wedding Fair last weekend and we were blessed with a super Spring Day. You could almost hear the daffodils beginning to bloom!

Spring is in the air and I have made Marc promise to take me away for a wee break sometime soon.

Annual Burn's Supper at Harvey's Point on Saturday 29th January

A date for the diary is our Annual Burn's Supper at Harvey's Point on Saturday 29th January. This is a special evening of fine food, great fun, music, poetry and lots of dancing. This is an event not to be missed so get working on the wardrobe and find some tartan and perhaps you could win a prize for the best dressed lady or gentleman.

The Burns Supper at Harvey's Point was born from an idea by my Daddy, the late Joe Mc Glone, who shared the same passion as Burn's for food, wine, poetry and people.

Proceeds go to Donegal and Northwest Hospice. Tickets are priced at €55 and there are special overnight rates from €149 pps.

So, come along and we guarantee you a great night out in aid of a very good cause.

Happy New Year

New Years Resoultion to get blogging. Christmas at Harvey's Point was magical, enchanting and the house was full of lovely guests who enjoyed a relaxing break in their 'home from home', Harvey's Point.

Personally, I enjoyed a beautiful blend of hotel time and home time. Santa came to our three kids and it was a time of great excitement not to mention noise. Thankfully the hotel was busy despite the cancellations due to the weather. In addition to the eating, drinking activities, we hosted many events such as a cookery demonstrations, napkin folding demonstrations, a fashion show and even a dog show which was held in our own private bar at the stables, - a bar with no till !

Romance was definately in the air with engagments and lots of winter weddings.

Harvey's Point will go into hibernation now until the end of January when we re-open with a big Scottish Burn's Supper, - a special night of great music, song and dance.

End of Season Party

Hi,

The Harvey's Point Family of 100+ enjoyed our end of season celebrations last Sunday. Commencing with a lovely wine reception in the home of Eamonn Gillespie, one of our managers, the evening was spent in the elegance of Castlemurray Seafood Restaurant. This was a most special occasion because it was also to honour those of our team who have been with us for 5 to 20 years. Sally Mc Menamin was the proud recipient of the 20 year award. Later that evening, many headed for town to the Sky Night Club and the rest we'll say is 'history'!

I kept the pace with the 'young and not so young ones' despite the fact that I was taking the 7am bus to Dublin to attend the 'Hospitality Ireland' National Industry Awards in the Four Seasons.
A lovely day of food and networking was had not to mention the first visit to the famous Ice Bar where the Laurent Perrier was flowing as much as the conversation.

Back to reality today with lots of work to catch up on.

Regards,

Deirdre

Whats new at Harvey's Point

Its Thursday 24th September and following gentle persuasion from hubby, best friend and business partner Marc, I am beginning to blog. The work is done for today, (kept plenty for tomorrow), the kids are in bed and instead of watching a nice film with a nice bottle of wine, here I am.

So, whats new at Harvey's Point? I suppose every new day brings its own set of challenges and triumphs. 20 years on there is still lots to learn and lots to do. Harvey's Point is our other
'Baby'; its our pride and joy, its a pain in the a.. sometimes but there is always a love and passion for what we do and this is what makes it so special.

We have had a good year so far but we have had to take some hard decisions and stay focussed when the going was getting tough. Winter is looming but we hope to get through to the other end and next year, we will celebrate 21 years, a sort of coming of age.

Talking of celebrations, we were thrilled and delighted to win the prestigious Hotel & Catering Gold Medal Award 2009 at a glitzy ceremony in Dublin on Monday night. What a night of posh frocks, black ties, champagne, fine food and networking!
